Active Physical Therapy

Active Rockland ensures that each patient interaction produces the best outcomes possible.

Our team of physical therapists has years of experience working with a wide range of orthopedic, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions. We use state-of-the-art equipment to help restore strength and range of motion to patients who have been diagnosed with weakness in the areas where they need it most—whether it be from an injury or illness.

We work with each individual patient on a customized plan that takes into account their specific needs and goals. We will assess your strength and range of motion by examining you in our office or at home. Once we have determined what areas need improvement, we will create an individualized treatment plan for you based on what we find is helping your progress best now. You can expect top-quality care from accomplished professionals who truly care about your well-being!

Electric Stimulation (EStim)

EStim Allows for passive stimulation of the muscle, which strengthens the muscle, increases blood flow, and reduces edema (lymph drainage). Electric stimulation is a method of pain relief that involves the use of electrical pulses to stimulate nerves. It is typically used for chronic pain, such as back pain or arthritis.

Shockwave Therapy

Percussive myofascial release (AKA knots)

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive type of physical therapy that uses a shock wave to treat injuries and disorders. It is typically used for patients who suffer from knee pain, back pain, shoulder pain and more.

Active Physical Therapy

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a treatment used to relieve pain and increase circulation. TENS uses electrical impulses delivered through electrodes placed on the skin, which are connected to an electrical device.

Lymphatic Drainage

Massage for individuals that have a loss of natural lymphatic drainage due to surgery to reduce pain and swelling.

Lymphatic Drainage is a form of massage that works to increase the flow of lymphatic fluid in the body.

The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that are located throughout the body and are filled with a clear, watery substance called lymph. The lymph is responsible for helping the body remove waste products through the circulatory system, but it also has an important role in immune function.

Active Physical Therapy

Stretching techniques/Passive Range of Motion

Passive range of motion is a way to stretch your muscles without using your own body weight. It’s typically the most effective method for stretching, as it doesn’t involve any effort from the body and can help you avoid injury.

To perform passive range of motion, simply lie on the floor or a mat with your feet flat on the floor and your hands behind your head. This position stretches out your calves, ankles, hips, and back. To increase the stretch, lift one leg off of the floor so that you are in a standing position with your leg straight up in the air.
